Step back in time to explore the Age of Steam Roundhouse with one of our knowledgeable interpreters. Take in the sights, sounds, and smells of this authentic 20th century Roundhouse. Learn the fundamentals of steam locomotives, experience the storied past of the railroad, and connect with American industrial heritage.

Roundhouse tours are offered April through November 18th on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM.

Commemorating the Role Played by American Railroads in Achieving Allied Victory in World War II

The Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum will host our annual Steam to Victory on Friday, September 8th and Saturday, September 9th, 2023.

Combining the might and power of the second World War with the display of American military and steam, visitors will see how the two worked together through the war.

Visitors to the event will be treated to static railroad displays, artillery and small arms demonstrations, World War II military vehicles, living history reenactors, and militaria and food vendors. Short train rides on the museum grounds will be offered to guests as well as tours of the roundhouse to see our steam locomotives that aren’t being displayed outside at the event. Both of these aspects of the event are included in the price of admission for the event.

Join us at the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum for a family-friendly evening of ghostly tales and stories of railroad legends, led by the light of an old oil lantern. Experience our 90-minute tours led by a staff storyteller who will thrill you and chill you as they lead you around the roundhouse and our steam locomotive collection during the dark twilight hours of autumn. Please do not bring flashlights or use flash photography during the tour and please wear closed-toe shoes.

Lantern Tours will be offered on:

  • Friday October 20th
  • Saturday October 21st
  • Friday October 27th
  • Saturday October 28th
Tours begin at 6pm and 7pm each night. Children ages 3-16 are $15 per child, Adults 17+ are $25, Children under 3 are free.

The Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum will host the second Steam to Victory on Friday, September 9th and Saturday, September 10th, 2022.

Welcoming visitors for this exciting weekend; Steam to Victory 2022 will be the second edition of this grand event.  Combining the might and power of the second World War with the display of American military and steam, visitors will see how the two worked together through the war.

Visitors to the event will be treated to static railroad displays, artillery and small arms demonstrations, World War II military vehicles, living history reenactors, and militaria and food venders. Tickets can be purchased at the gate on the day of the event. Guided tours of the Roundhouse collection will be offered for an additional charge.

Join us for an extended three-hour long guided tour of the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum designed to highlight the life and legacy of our Founder, Mr. Jerry Jacobson. Visit Jerry’s collection of steam locomotives and the roundhouse and restoration facilities he built to care for them. Along the way, hear how it was done and how we preserve his legacy today.

  • Due to the nature of the site, visitors are restricted to the guided tour itself.
  • Group size is limited, and all tickets are sold in advance. No tickets may be purchased at the door for this event.
  • We recommend wearing comfortable closed toe footwear.
  • Limited strollers and wheelchairs are available.
  • Roundhouse waiver must be signed by all participants.

The Founder’s Tour is offered on Saturday, May 13 & November 4, 2023 beginning at 9:00 AM.

An extended three-hour long guided tour of the Age of Steam Roundhouse including our collection of Steam Locomotives, Restoration Shop, Turntable, Machine Shop, and Store House. This tour is an in-depth look at the technical aspects concerning steam engineering, locomotive mechanics, industrial heritage, railroad history, and roundhouse architecture.

Note: The Ferroequinologist Tour is a more in-depth version of our regular guided tour designed for the knowledgeable railroad enthusiast.

Group size is strictly limited.

Due to the nature of the site, visitors are restricted to the guided tour itself.
Group sizes are limited, with one tour guide and an assistant.
All tickets are sold in advance. No tickets may be purchased at the door.
Comfortable, closed toe, footwear recommended.
Roundhouse waiver must be signed.
